The Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to report on materials received from the consultant, provide an updated plan for the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw project, and bring forward policy and regulatory options for prioritizing water servicing in Ganges Village for housing, including affordable and workforce housing.[1]

The minutes say the consultant did not renew the contract at the end of March, and that materials received would be reviewed by the Project Advisory Planning Commission before being brought forward for discussion.[1]

The committee also asked staff to ensure that development of outcomes is informed by First Nations engagement and an engagement plan.[1]

During public participation, a Project Advisory Planning Commission member said the commission’s work should remain within its terms of reference and asked that work completed to date, including survey results, be made public for review.[2] A Transition Salt Spring representative also asked for public access to information gathered so far, saying it could support public discussion even if a complete draft plan was not ready.[2]

The minutes record that the committee carried the request for staff reporting. The next regular meeting was scheduled for May 14, 2026, at Meaden Hall.[1]
