Trustees discussed adding zoning for workforce ownership housing projects, with one proposal to allow a density of one home per acre in Rural and Rural Uplands zones; the minutes record the idea as part of a strategic work-program discussion, not as an adopted zoning change.[1]
The minutes say trustees discussed housing affordability, agricultural planning, First Nations relationship building and operational improvements, following a workshop held in January.[1] In the recording, a trustee described the proposed housing as strata projects controlled by a housing authority, while staff said the discussion was identifying possible actions rather than making commitments.[2]
Trustees also discussed Ganges as a growth area and the possibility of identifying other village sites to create connected, compact villages over the longer term.[1] The recording includes discussion of service constraints, including wastewater capacity and water supply, in relation to Ganges.[2]
The committee authorized staff to apply for Complete Communities funding from the 2023/2024 program, according to the minutes.[1] The minutes say the funding would allow planners to hire a consultant to analyze sewer and wastewater capacity data for the Official Community Plan project.[1]
