The pilot would let property owners apply to be added to the map for proposed Bylaw 530, which concerns accessory dwelling units; trustees directed staff to develop the program, considering criteria, fees and the possibility of waiving public hearings.[1]

The committee also asked staff to prepare a new bylaw number replicating Bylaw 530 as presented in a staff report dated November 16, 2023.[1]

Trustee Laura Patrick said the only method presented so far for limiting the number of accessory dwelling units was map-based, and said many property owners were willing to be landlords.[1]
