The Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee endorsed a project charter on proof of water at subdivision and voted to forward a related business case to the Financial Planning Committee for consideration in the 2024/25 Trust Council budget.[1]

The charter sets out work on amending subdivision application proof-of-water requirements, according to the meeting minutes.[1] The motion to endorse the charter carried, as did the motion to forward the business case; Trustee Harris opposed the latter.[1]

During town hall, Ian Peace, speaking for the Salt Spring Island Water Preservation Society, supported the staff recommendation and said proof-of-water methods at subdivision should be harmonized with other jurisdictions.[1]
