The Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee supported the CRD Rural Housing Program presentation being brought to Trust Council, while discussion focused on housing incentives, pre-development funding and staff support for rural housing needs.[1]

The proposed pilot would include financial assistance for homeowners to build secondary suites and cottages in exchange for commitments to affordable rents, pre-development funding for affordable housing projects and coordination support for non-profit housing providers.[1]

The committee also approved two development variance permits and supported the Portlock Park Site Master Plan referral from the Capital Regional District.[1] The next regular meeting was scheduled for November 14, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Meaden Hall.[1]
