The Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee gave first and second readings to Bylaw No. 549 for 154 Kings Lane, a proposal that drew questions about water supply and a request to clarify the bylaw wording. Staff said they would review the wording request and bring it back at third reading.[1]

During town hall, a resident raised concerns about wells in the area and the water demands of nearby proposed developments. A representative of the Gulf Islands Seniors Residence Association said a wording inconsistency in the proposed bylaw could be resolved between second and third readings.[1]

The committee also noted that Tsawout First Nation had indicated it wanted to comment on the application, with a referral response expected in November. A trustee recommended prioritizing projects for connection to the water service.[1]

The meeting recording captures the discussion before the committee considered the application, including the town-hall comments about water and the requested wording clarification.[2]
