The Executive Committee asked staff to evaluate advocacy during the current term and provide background for trustee orientation.

The Denman Firestarter · Governance · 2026-02-04 · updated 2026-10-20 · Trust-wide: every island edition carries this report.

Staff will prepare an evaluation of Islands Trust advocacy during the term and background on the advocacy program for trustee orientation, after the Executive Committee approved the request at its Feb. 4 meeting.[1]

The discussion included staff workload, intergovernmental work, letter writing as the primary form of advocacy at present, the overall strategic approach and a review of Policy 6.10.3.[1]

The committee also asked staff to invite a presentation on the B.C. Coastal Marine Strategy for the June Trust Council meeting.[1]

In a separate decision, it asked staff to prepare a request for decision recommending advocacy on enshrining the strategy into legislation for the June meeting.[1]

The committee forwarded a First Nations Engagement Grant allocation item to the March Islands Trust Council quarterly meeting agenda for consideration.[1]
