The Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to revise the project charter for its Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw update, incorporating the committee’s comments, and to bring forward a business case for the 2027/2028 fiscal year.[1]

The comments included emphasizing that the work is a comprehensive review, clarifying that both documents are being updated, and adding an objective to evaluate the effectiveness of the existing plan and bylaw before deciding the scope of regulatory changes.[1]

The committee also received the updated workplan attached to the July 9 staff report.[1]

In a separate decision, the committee asked the Salt Spring Island Electoral Area Director to consider starting the process of adding all of Salt Spring Island to the Capital Regional District’s onsite sewage system service and maintenance bylaw, and asked staff to put the topic on the agenda of the next joint meeting with the Local Community Commission.[1]
